"Macho"/Bluster

Prevalent in South America, Dominance/"Macho" is one of the major types of honor/shame cultures. Often referred to as "machismo", honor in this context is reserved for those who can publicly demonstrate strength and "bravado". Those unwilling to be dominant are often perceived as shameful and less worthy of honor from the group/family. 

Often criticized as a form of "toxic masculinity", it nonetheless encompasses aspects considered positive as well; such as being a provider and protector of the home/family. The very display, though, of strength is often considered the cultural "proof" of being worthy, and thus those who look weak are sometimes considered shameful. In this context, the pressure to "man up" can be immense.
